‘Helping You Restore Movement, Maintain Consistency & Regain Confidence in Your Body’

BOOK APPOINTMENT

Welcome!

My name is Polly and I’m a Sports Massage Therapist based in Maiden Bradley, Wiltshire. For a long time I have been immersed in the world of endurance sport, both personally and professionally and I look forward to the chance of working with you too.

Since graduating from University of Chichester in 2009 where I studied BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy, I have worked in a variety of settings from Sports Teams, Spa’s and Private Clinics and have supported individuals of all abilities from beginner level to Professional Athletes.

Sport has played a big part in my own life, and through Running, Riding, Tetrathlon and Modern Pentathlon I have won national titles and represented GBR. In my 20’s I spent several years competing at a professional level in Triathlon across half ironman distance whilst living in Australia. During this time I trained and raced alongside an elite squad of athletes which further developed my experience of what it takes to perform at your best and remain consistent year after year. Sports Massage has been a non-negotiable element throughout my own athletic career, which is why I value it so much.

15 years ago my husband and I established Strength For Endurance a global coaching company specialising in strength & conditioning and injury prevention for endurance sport. We saw too many athletes struggling with injuries that could’ve been prevented with a better approach to their training load, preparation and recovery.

Movement mechanics and training load management are at the heart of what we do and everyday we support people who are looking to:

  • Overcome injury and get back to doing what they love

  • Maintain a consistent level of training alongside busy lifestyles

  • Effectively integrate strength training to support their goals

  • Regain confidence in their body

  • Prevent overtraining and achieve balance

We work with a team approach that allows us to look after all aspects of your assessment, treatment and recovery.

 What is Sports Massage?

Sports Massage is a form of massage that helps to reduce pain and tension, promote relaxation, aid recovery and restore optimal movement function. It involves the manipulation of soft tissue - muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments to enhance performance and prevent injury - commonly for those who are involved in sport or regular physical training.

Clients can range from those experiencing a particular area of muscular tension they’d like to work on, or those who come in monthly for a ‘maintenance’ massage to keep on top of any niggles and moving well.

Not Just For Sports People

You don’t have to be an elite sportsperson or highly trained individual to receive a sports massage. Regular clients include those who are experiencing tension and tightness as a result of desk work, manual jobs or general day to day activities.

Psychological Benefits

Many of us lead very busy lives - combine that with physical training and our bodies and minds are regularly in a state of high alert and activity. As well as the physical benefits that massage brings are the psychological ones. A time to be still, a time to tune in to your body — to stop and breathe.

What To Expect

Each session will begin with a discussion to find out if there are any areas you'd specifically like to work on or any areas of pain or discomfort you've been experiencing.

When necessary this is usually followed by a short physical assessment or some tests that will highlight any muscular restrictions, weaknesses or imbalances that might be present.

Combining this information we can then discuss the best approach to treatment and areas to work on during the massage.

A Comprehensive Approach

Sports massage is most effective when it is combined with a balanced approach. This could include strengthening, mobility, training load management, self massage, recovery strategies or discussing your nutrition. Each clients needs will be different, which is why there is an individualised approach to each appointment and follow up.
